Preparedness With Love

I often marvel at the various reasons for preparedness, the different approaches and styles, the beans, bullets and band-aids. I have recently become more aware of a sense of community among Preppers, and enjoy following the various meet-ups and Prepper Convention activities that are posted and advertised on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

It seems to me that one of the most important ingredients in the Prepper recipe should be LOVE. I often hear sentiments, such as “keep your loved ones close!” I couldn’t agree more. “Love thy neighbor” is another value with which I believe we can all identify.

As perilous times are upon us, and they are, please reflect upon the love you have for your family, friends, and neighbors in your preparedness process. Think of ways to lend a helping hand. Find opportunities to express your care and concern to those around you.

While I understand the basic instinct many of us have in survival situations, and this often includes going into “lock down mode” on our homesteads and survival locations, please remember that it is wise to carry compassion and love in your heart. Sure, we should arm and protect ourselves. But we can also benefit from wrapping our arms around our children, husbands, wives, neighbors, and even the occasional stranger in need. Always strive for preparedness…with love.
